A SUSPECT linked to the snatching of an Alabama toddler from a birthday party has been detained — but police still haven’t found the three-year-old whom they believe is in "extreme danger".

Surveillance show images of the suspect and the blue SUVe vehicle he was driving were released by police after Kamille McKinney was abducted.

Cops issued an amber alert and fear Kamille is in “extreme danger” after she was taken from an area near the Tom Brown Housing Community on Saturday night about 8.30pm

Officers later put out an alert for a 2001-2006 Toyota Sequoia in blue with a tan or brown trim after a man and woman were seen “enticing children with candy”.

The suspect was detained the following night for questioning after a person spotted the vehicle and alerted authorities.

The toddler's father, Dominic McKinney, told AL.com that he was relieved the suspect had been caught but would not rest until his daughter was found safe.

Birmingham Police said they were continuing to search the surrounding area for the little girl.

He said "I feel a little better that they got him but the search goes on because Cupcake still isn't home.

"We're still not stopping. I feel better that they caught him, I do, but until I see that baby, they can catch him all day.

"We will find her tonight."

Kamille was seen last wearing a pink Minnie Mouse t-shirt and leopard print shorts.

She had yellow, white and blue bows in her hair and she is believed to have been barefoot when she was last seen.

Her father Dominic McKinney made a desperate plea for her return, saying he has spent the night searching abandoned buildings and schools for his daughter.

“I just want my daughter back. I'll pay anything, I'll put up anything,” said the 27-year-old.

“Everybody knows Cupcake and I'll do anything to bring that baby back home.”

Mr McKinney could not understand why someone would abduct his daughter.

“She's scared, she's lonely, she doesn't know what's going on,” he said.

“She's just a baby. Whatever the situation is, whatever they've got going on, it don't concern her.”

The devoted dad has his first-born daughter's nickname tattooed on his arm along with a picture of a cupcake.

"She’s just a pretty little girl with the prettiest eyes. She ain’t the girl that’s going to get in the car with just anybody," he said.

Mr McKinney declared that he wouldn't stop looking for the little girl.

“We’re going to pray and we’re going to hope for the best,” he said.

“We’re going to find her if that’s the last thing I don on this earth.”
