A FAMILY of five is fighting for compensation after their dream £7,000 Tenerife holiday was ruined by days of pneumatic drilling by the pool.

The Andrew parents from Blackpool, Lancs, were looking to relax on their first vacation for two years – but instead were confronted with deafening noise and dust at their hotel's main attraction.

Lindsay and Bryan, 43, chose the Tagoro Family and Fun Hotel as a "relaxing, child-friendly" resort to suit both their son Charlie, eight, and their 70-year-old parents.

But Lindsay, 42, said the ongoing noise made their entire 10-day trip in Costa Adeje a nightmare right from their arrival on May 27.

'UNACCEPTABLE'

"It was totally unacceptable," the restaurant owner told the Sun Online.

"There was a constant hammering, a constant sawing.

"It was a bit ridiculous. At breakfast we couldn't even hear the other person talking.

"As well as the noise there was also lots of dust, it wasn't nice to sit there."

The family only discovered through negative Trip Advisor reviews just before the trip that the replacement of swimming pool tiles could be an issue.

But when they contacted booking site Dream Place Hotels they were assured the sound would be "minimal".

On arrival however, the family quickly realised they'd have to leave the all-inclusive hotel to get the peace they wanted.

They were forced to shell out extra cash for meals out and days on the beach to escape the din.

And the beds by the pool were "cramped up" next to each other to make space for the eight weeks of works.

'RUINED'

"We paid thousands of pounds for this holiday and it was ruined," said Lindsay.

"The noise and dust levels when the drilling was happening were so bad we had to go to the beach to escape.

"When you are all inclusive, you don’t want to be forced out of your hotel and have to pay for beds, shades, food and drink."

The family – who had paid for the top rooms with a balcony and hot tub – requested to switch hotels due to the monstrous drilling.

Lindsay says she spent hours negotiating with the hotel manager before finally being told they could be moved to a sister hotel, Gran Tacande.

Incredibly, she was then told they would have to shell out €2000 (£1,800) more to move to the half-board accommodation.

"It was ridiculous – there was no way we were going to pay all that money."

They were then offered another hotel – which Lindsay slammed as "completely unsuitable".

A spokeswoman for Dream Place Hotels said their legal department was investigating and they were unable to comment more specifically.

They added: "The hotel Tagoro is a hotel specialized in families, with a rating of 8.5 / 10 in Booking and 4.3 / 5 in Google, with a high rate of repeating guest, especially from the British market.

"We are working hard every day in order to provide a high level service and the best facilities in Tenerife."
