THE sister of a mum who raised £3,500 on a GoFundMe page to buy Christmas presents for her seven children has said she is "disgusted" by the fundraiser.
Joanne Grimes slammed half-sibling Jenny and her fiance, Ryan Rodgers, who launched the appeal after Universal Credit cuts left them with just £480 a month to live on.
The couple, from Liverpool, said they had been forced to rely on food banks, charities, and help from friends and relatives to feed their kids, who are all under seven years old.
Neighbours have already taken issue with the plea, branding Ryan and idler who smokes cannabis "starting at seven in the morning sometimes and carrying on until late at night".
Ryan hit back, slamming critics as "disgraceful" and saying the family would be giving more than £2,000 of the money raised to charity.
"Both me and Jenny are amazing parents and the kids are very well looked after," he said.
"All I was doing is trying to make a difference."
Speaking exclusively to Sun Online, sister-in-law Joanna described the claims as "nonsense".
“I was disgusted when I saw what they had done,” she said.
“We all know it is a load of c**p – we all struggle but we don’t sell our children's faces to get pity.
“I don’t believe for one second they have given money to charity.
“I would say to anyone who has donated to demand a refund.”
'I'LL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR HER'
Mother-of-four Joanne says she is worried for her sister and has previously urged her to leave Ryan.
“Jenny is a good mum but she has been with Ryan from school and has been pregnant pretty much ever since," she said.
“It’s the only life she knows.
“Ryan has been getting stuff for free from recycling sites for a long time.
“But none of the money goes on Jen or the kids. He just blows it on himself.”
Joanne says Jenny has blocked her on Facebook, but that she wants to be able to help her.
“People have been ripped off and it’s not right," Joanne said.
"I just hope they see sense and give everyone their money back. But I am not holding my breath.
“Jenny was texting people last week saying could she ‘have a borrow’ until their money clears.
“Now she's blocked me and the rest of the family.
“I will always be here for Jenny and the kids once she leaves Ryan she will have all her family back but at the minute she wants to be with him and you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help.”
