Two British teens with Down syndrome capped off their school careers with an “absolutely wonderful” night at the prom — where they were voted king and queen by their peers.

“They were both buzzing when they came home,” recalled Katharina Barker, mother of Amelie Barker, 16.

“They had spent all evening dancing — and were still wearing their sashes and crowns when I picked them up,” she told The Post.

Amelie and her boyfriend, Dylan Hughes, also 16, are both getting ready to finish school “in just a few days,” her mother said, and were ecstatic to go out with a bang.

“It’s their final year,” Barker explained. “Parents don’t go to the prom, so we didn’t know anything about [them winning] at first. Just got a message in the middle of the evening. A vote had been taken by all the students taking part in the prom.”

Amelie and Dylan have only been dating for a couple months, but have known each other almost their entire lives.

“They met through myself and Dylan’s mom, Victoria,” Barker said. “We have been good friends since they were about 3. They’ve both gone to the same school and started seeing each other more like boyfriend and girlfriend in the last few months. Been on dates together, gone out for pizza, seen movies.”

Barker described Dylan as “a very decent bloke” — and said there’s already wedding bells in the air for the two teens.

“They’ve got grand plans,” she told The Post. “They’re talking about their future life together.”

Amelie plans to head off to college next year, while Dylan will focus on his swimming career. The teen has represented Great Britain at the Down’s syndrome Swimming World Championships in Canada and is getting ready to compete in the European Championships in Sardinia, according to the BBC.

“We expect them to live independently eventually,” Barker said. “They’re both still very young, but I’m proud of them. They will make their way in the world.”
