BORIS Johnson has got his Brexit band back together today to crush Farage threat and squeeze the Leave vote on December 12.
The PM, alongside Michael Gove and Labour's Gisela Stuart, all formerly a part of the Vote Leave campaign, came together at a joint press conference today to urge Brexiteers to remember why they voted to leave in the first place, and beg them to back Boris in the election.
He will shortly set out his Brexit roadmap for delivering on the result of the 2016 referendum, so people can finally get the change that they voted for three years ago.
The PM will pledge that a Conservative majority government would take immediate steps to get Brexit done by 31 January 2020.
He will say that the benefits of Brexit need to be realised by 1 January 2021 – a clear indication that he won't be extending the transition period past the end of December 2020.
Boris has promised:
- To introduce a new state aid regime to save firms like British Steel when they are in trouble
- To back British business with new schemed to boost the local economy and small firms
- To scrap the tampon tax
- To deliver for farmers by leaving the Common Agricultural Policy and promote a 'buy British' rule for public bodies
He insisted that "no other party can deliver change" – except the Conservatives.
Labour's Gisela Stuart said she would not be voting for Jeremy Corbyn in the election, and made a direct appeal for Labour backers to support Boris Johnson instead.
