Boris Becker kept horses in his bedroom to hide them from debt collectors before he was jailed for concealing assets and loans worth £2.5million, his estranged wife has claimed.
The three-time Wimbledon champion declared bankruptcy in 2017, around the time the assessors are said to have paid a visit to his Mallorca mansion.
‘The guy tries to go into the master bedroom but Boris had hid the horses. You have to pay taxes on them and he hadn’t,’ his second wife Sharlely ‘Lilly’ Becker revealed in a new tell-all documentary.
‘You see the funny side of the story because you walk into the bedroom and there’s a horse. I’m sorry, that’s funny.’
Becker was later sentenced to 30 months in prison, of which he spent eight behind bars in the UK before being deported to Germany.
Lilly previously said her ex-husband’s sentence ‘ruined his reputation’, and has slammed him for neglecting his family, even claiming that she and their young son had to sleep on a bench after they split.

Becker’s second wife, Sharlely ‘Lilly’ Becker, made the revelations in a new tell-all docuseries
Her latest revelations about the couple’s tumultuous relationship will be made in the upcoming ITVX documentary, Boris Becker: The Rise & Fall, out later this month.
The docuseries tells the inside story of how one of the greatest sporting stars of all time, who was the youngest-ever winner of Wimbledon at just 17, ended up in Wandsworth Jail after avoiding debt repayments.
It also reveals how the grand slam player blew a staggering £100million on his playboy lifestyle, The Sun reports.
Lilly, who married Becker in 2009 and separated from him in 2018, says in the new documentary that she stood by him throughout his money woes and alleged affairs.
‘He is sweet, kind and funny. But he’s also arrogant and he’s a liar. All the women and the girls and the gossip, I was insecure,’ she says.
Speaking to the German newspaper Bild, she described him as a ‘narcissistic egotist’ and claimed that he was ‘constantly’ unfaithful during their relationship.
The 47-year-old said: ‘I left him in 2018 and he won’t forgive me.
‘You don’t leave a Boris Becker. Since then he wants to destroy me.
‘I didn’t have a cent in cash. I didn’t know where to go.
‘We spent the first night on a bench in a cafe.’
Becker won three Wimbledon championships during his time as a player, including his first when he was just 17
In a new ITVX documentary, Becker’s second wife Lilly recalls the more difficult times in their relationship
Becker was previously engaged to Alessandra Meyer-Wölden (pictured speaking in the new documentary)
Lilly took Becker back, with the pair marrying in 2009 (pictured at their wedding in St Mortiz, Switzerland)
She also described in the new ITVX series the moment when, in 2008, she found out Becker was engaged to his manager’s daughter – a younger woman called Alessandra Meyer-Wölden – shortly after their separation.
‘I woke up, my phone rang,’ Ms Becker said.
‘I suddenly checked. This woman is younger, beautiful. That was devastating.
‘I’ve never felt so ugly, old and unwanted.’
She said she decided to go to Ibiza where she tried every drug in attempt to forget about him.
She said: ‘I tried every mushroom, every alcohol, every drug on Ibiza.
‘I couldn’t get drunk enough to forget this man.’

The tennis star’s engagement with Meyer-Wolden fell through soon after, with Lilly taking him back and the pair tying the knot in 2009.
They later split in 2018, but remain married, and Lilly says she is now waiting for a divorce.
When asked why she chose to appear in the documentary, Lilly said: ‘It is a perfect ending. A farewell to my life with Boris Becker. I have learned my lesson.
‘After the documentary, I never want to have to publicly talk about him again. I just want the divorce so that I can finally enjoy my life. Enough is enough!’
Becker and Lilly share a son, Amadeus, together. Lilly claimed that she and Amadeus had to sleep on a bench after she split from Becker
She told Bild: ‘He’s afraid that he can’t influence the content of this documentary.
‘He’s used to being able to steer and manipulate others. But I won’t let him muzzle me, even if he comes after me again with his lawyers.
‘I left him because I couldn’t take his lies and his bad character anymore.
‘I got no answers to my questions… he just didn’t treat me right anymore. He was bad to me.’
Becker, 55, has not yet responded to the interview or the upcoming two-part documentary, however, German media have reported that he has instructed his lawyers to examine the series.
He has previously claimed that his wife’s claims were ‘not always right or legally correct’.
Boris Becker: The Rise & Fall is out on ITVX on July 13.
