Driver demolishes iconic London tea hut that has stood on the same spot for 96 years and puts three people in hospital as owner vows: ‘We will not be defeated’

A driver has demolished an iconic south London tea hut that has stood on the same spot for almost a century sending three people to hospital.
The incident happened at the Blackheath Tea Hut on Shooters Hill Road on Tuesday night.
Photographs of the scene show a silver Mercedes embedded into the side of the blue hut.

Emergency services raced to the scene following last night’s incident which injured three people and left four bikers suffering from shock
According to the Evening Standard, one witness, Michael Jones said: ‘All injured were conscious and talking, it was a real mess, gas was leaking and tea hut woman trapped inside for a while.
‘Great work from the bikers who were there to rip open the hut to get her out.’
The incident happened shortly after 7pm.
According Dubster Arfurzee, who owns the tea hut, one staff member suffered broken ribs and a breast plate.
Four bikers were treated for shock.
He said they were forced to bring in contractors to demolish the remains of the tea hut because of the extensive damage caused, which ripped the services, including gas, water and electricity from the ground.
He added: ‘We will not be defeated by one reckless driver and we will be rebuilding it.’
Fans of the tea hut launched a crowd funder to raise money to help the rebuilding project.
