DONALD Trump said that former California Sen Barbara Boxer was a victim of "Democrats destroying our cities with Defund the Police."
Boxer was assaulted and robbed in Oakland, California, on Monday.
"Former California Senator Barbara Boxer was savagely assaulted and robbed yesterday in Oakland, where they defunded the police," Trump wrote in a Tuesday statement.
"Our once great cities, like New York, Detroit, San Francisco, and so many others, have become a paradise for criminals because of Democrats.
"We must give power back to police or America will never be safe.
"We cannot let Communist Democrats destroy our great cities.
"If we don't stop them, our communities and our Country will be lost forever."
WHAT HAPPENED TO BOXER?
Boxer, 80, was attacked on Monday by an assailant who pushed her in the back, stole her cell phone, and jumped into a waiting car.
A representative from her office said the former congresswoman is "thankful she was no seriously injured."
Boxer, who served as a congresswoman for 34 years before retiring, said that she was "shook up" following the incident.
"He pushed me very hard… and before I could follow him, he grabbed my phone," Boxer told CNN affiliate KPIX.
"I was yelling at the kid 'Why would you do this to a grandma?' but he could care less," Boxer said in the interview.
The incident is currently being investigated and the police department is offering up to $2,000 as a reward for information surrounding the case.
