New York: A massive influx of police officers to the tiny Canadian town of York Landing has so far failed to find the two teenagers suspected of killing Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend despite a possible sighting of the pair.

The hunt for murder suspects Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, has concentrated on York Landing, in the province of Manitoba, after a local resident reported possibly seeing the pair foraging for food on Sunday local time (Monday AEDT).
"Our officers on the ground have not made contact with the individuals, so we are not yet in a position to confirm that these are the wanted suspects," Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) spokeswoman Julie Courchaine told reporters at a press conference on Monday local time.
"Our goal today remains to safely locate, apprehend and identify the individuals.
"We're still looking at every possibility in this investigation."

Helicopters have been circling the skies above York Landing and police have sent in sniffer dogs and crisis response officers to help the search.
Bear Patrol Inc executive director James Favel, whose company is assisting the search, told the Canadian Press: "All hell is breaking loose and the town is locked down."
York Landing, with a population of 443 people, is a 30 kilometre drive from Split Lake, where the suspects were most recently sighted last week.
Courchaine said York Landing was only only accessible in the summer months by air or a two-hour ferry crossing.
A rail line also runs about 25km south of the town.
"We understand that this is a trying time for the community of York Landing and that there is a lot of uncertainty," Courchaine said.
