Clemmie (Mabel Addison) faces a difficult time adjusting to life in Emmerdale with Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and Billy (Jay Kontzle) in upcoming episodes – and her life isn’t made any easier when Kim Tate (Claire King) reduces her to tears.
Billy and Dawn are pleased when social services decide that Clemmie can come and live with them. They hope that after a troubled early life the young girl can find a settled home with them.
It’s not all plain sailing, though, as it becomes clear that Clemmie is very fragile and it’s going to take a lot of patience, understanding and hard work on their part before she can settle in.
It’s all a lot for Dawn to take on, and Kim notices how tired she is and offers to help out by taking Clemmie and Lucas (Noah Ryan Aspinall) to the playground to give Dawn a break.
That’s where things go a little sour. Kim is distracted for a moment and doesn’t realise that an argument is about to break out between the children. Lucas has innocently taken Clemmie’s toy from her and Clemmie lashes out, scratching him.
Kim reprimands the girl, who promptly bursts into tears. Billy and Dawn arrive to find uproar, with Clemmie distraught, Lucas upset and Kim trying to calm everything down.
With Kim’s offer of help backfiring, Dawn feels guilty that she didn’t stay with Clemmie herself. She and Billy realise that fostering Clemmie is going to be harder than they expected.
