As fans eagerly await season five of the Paramount Network hit drama Yellowstone, actress Kelsey Asbille lifted the lid on the upcoming series. She also spoke about her co-star Luke Grimes who is pursuing a career in music.
Kelsey rose to fame for her portrayal of Monica Dutton after first appearing in the pilot episode in 2018.
She married Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes), the son of prominent cattle rancher John Dutton (Kevin Costner).
Although the couple has expanded their family with the addition of their son Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill), their relationship didn’t come without hardship.
Much of it was the result of things beyond their control, which included their own families’ legacies.
Kelsey was brought up on the Brocken Rock Indian Reservation and was the granddaughter of Indian elder Felix Long (Rudy Ramos).
Despite her union with Kayce, the Dutton family had long been at odds with the people of the reservation who wanted to reclaim their land.
This started a feud between the two families because John owned a portion of the land which later became one of the biggest cattle ranches in the United States.
He had refused to give up the land as it had been in the Dutton family for seven generations, and this battle had caused arguments between Monica and Kayce.
With Yellowstone returning with season five in November, it won’t be long until fans discover the fate of Kayce and Monica’s relationship following his intense vision quest.
Earlier in the year, actor Luke revealed he would be venturing back into music after he stepped away as the drummer of a country band to pursue acting.
However, this time he was forging into music as a solo artist, with fans eager for the release of a single, Kelsey revealed she had heard some of his songs.
She stated: “He just showed me something. He’s actually in Nashville right now, so I’ll see him afterwards and see if he can show me [some more music].”
As the actress teased the music was “really, really good,” she went on to express a heartfelt tribute to Luke and added: “I feel really proud of him.”
When asked if the songs would be featured in the show, she gushed: “I hope so, I do.”
“I think Monica wouldn’t mind being serenaded. That sounds good to me… on and off screen,” Kelsey told Entertainment Tonight.
As well as potential music, the upcoming fifth season is expected to reveal the outcome of Kayce’s vision quest.
He had undertaken indigenous rituals for clarity on why he kept seeing wolves during certain moments of his family’s life.
However as the traditional ceremony came to an end, Kayce saw two paths forward, and neither of them would bode well for him.
He also told Monica: “I saw the end of us,” but it’s yet to be seen if he meant the end of their relationship or the end of the Dutton family and their businesses.
Either way, it is expected to be a huge blow for Monica who told Kayce she was pregnant, just before he set off for the vision quest.
Yellowstone season five premieres Sunday, November 13 on Paramount Network in the US and on Monday on Paramount + in the UK.
