For over a decade, actor Ellie Leach has been a familiar face on Coronation Street.
If you’re a long-time watcher, you’ll know that the young star has grown up on screen in the role of Faye Windass.
But if you’re fairly new to the Cobbles, you might be wondering about Ellie’s history on the show – and if you might have seen her act in any other projects besides Corrie.

Ellie Louise Leach is a 22-year-old actor, from Bury in Greater Manchester.

She’s been playing Faye Windass on Corrie since 2011 in a long-running role that has lasted for 12 years – starting when she was just 10 years of age.
Prior to her big break, she appeared in a 2009 drama film A Boy Called Dad.
She’s also a bit of a social media star – having racked up 209,000 followers on her Instagram page @ellielouiseleach and 190,000 fans on her popular Tiktok.
When is Ellie Leach’s character Faye leaving Coronation Street?
Faye’s time on the soap is set to come to an end in the coming months, it’s been revealed.
She’s already filmed her final scenes, with reports suggesting her goodbye will air this summer in July 2023.
Coronation Street has not commented on her departure as yet.
A source told The Sun on Sunday that Faye won’t be killed off (phew!) and could potentially return in future – perhaps so that Ellie can spread her wings and try out some new acting roles.
Fans may have noticed new headshots appeared on her Instagram in March 2023.
After all, in her 12 years on the show, Ellie’s character has been through a lot. And been involved in some pretty dramatic storylines.
At the moment, Faye is getting to know her daughter Miley, who she gave up for adoption.

The youngster returned to the Cobbles alongside dad Jackson (Joseph Evans), Faye’s ex, after a spell living in Canada.
Could Faye be tempted by a family future with her ex and her daughter – which would leave her partner Craig (Colson Smith) with a broken heart? Only time will tell on that one…
Another major storyline for Faye is her experiencing early menopause – with boyfriend Craig taking the brunt of her mood swings.
Ellie told Metro.co.uk last year: ‘People know about the menopause, but it’s not really spoken about much, especially not early menopause.
‘People don’t realise – I didn’t even realise – how young it can happen to women… I have done a lot of research and found out a lot. It’s been really interesting and great to be able to play out a story like that.’
