BY the end of Gentleman Jack’s first season, Ann Walker and Anne Lister got their happy ending in the period drama after following through with their commitment ceremony.

After nearly a two year wait for the new season to announce its release date, here is when we can expect to see season two on our screens.

When is Season 2 of Gentleman Jack on BBC?

Gentleman Jack season 2 will be released in Spring 2022, the BBC has confirmed.

An official release date is still yet to be announced.

Shortly after the first series started airing in the UK, HBO announced in May, 2019 that a second series had officially been ordered.

From what’s been gathered, there’ll be eight episodes in the forthcoming season.

Following the show’s renewal, Suranne Jones said she was excited getting back to playing her character, having described the announcement as “positive news”.

“I’m so thrilled that I will be joining Sally Wainwright on the second part of Anne’s journey. We always dreamed there would be more and now we get to play it all out,” she said.

“A huge thank you to the BBC, HBO and Lookout Point for giving us our second series. It’s such amazing and positive news.

“I love working with the brilliant and talented Sophie Rundle and can’t wait to create some more Lister and Walker moments with her too”.

Who is in the cast of season 2 of Gentleman Jack?

It’s believed that the entire main cast is expected to return next season.

This would mean that the likes of Suranne Jones, Sophie Rundle, Joe Armstrong and Amelia Bullmore will all be back next year.

What happened in season 1?

The HBO synopsis of the season reads: "Set in 1832 Halifax, West Yorkshire, and inspired by a remarkable true story, this drama series follows the charismatic Anne Lister (Suranne Jones) as she attempts to revitalize her inherited home—and marry a wealthy heiress (Sophie Rundle)."

Ann left Hastings heartbroken and heads to the luxurious landscape of Halifax, West Yorkshire, to restore her uncle's estate she she has inherited.

While she is restoring the estate she finds that the family land as a coal mine and finds that its being stolen by two brothers.

The new landowner encounters a potentially dangerous romance with another woman, while she records a cryptic dairy that no one can decade.

This newly instated, unusual lady landowner and landlord encounters a potentially blossoming and dangerous romance with another woman, which she records in a cryptic diary that no one can decode.
