BBC One's brand new thriller, The Capture, finally premieres TONIGHT (September 3).
Written and directed by Bafta Award-winning filmmaker Ben Chanan, it sees Holliday Grainger stars as a detective while Callum Turner takes on the role of a flawed soldier. Here is everything you need to know…
When does The Capture start?
The six-part thriller begins TONIGHT (September 3, 2019) on BBC One from 9pm to 10pm.
All six episodes will be available to watch on the BBC iPlayer app once it has aired on television.
A trailer for the new show was released on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, showing DI Rachel Carey (played by Holliday Grainger) investigating a mysterious case.
The newly promoted detective is tasked with looking into Shaun Emery’s (Callum Turner) conviction for a murder in Afghanistan.
What is The Capture about?
Set in London in a world of misinformation, fake news and the extraordinary technological capabilities of the intelligence services, The Capture is a timely surveillance thriller.
In this post-truth era the criminal justice relies heavily on video evidence but can we always trust what we see in the form of CCTV surveillance and facial recognition software.

Who is in the cast of The Capture?
Casting for The Capture is extensive, with stars from The Crown, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones all working on the programme.
The stars of the series include the following:
- Ron Perlman of Hellboy and Hand Of God fame.
- Famke Janssen, who starred in X Men and Taken.
- Ben Miles from The Crown and Coupling.
- Lia Williams also from the The Crown and Kiri.
- Laura Haddock, who appeared in the Transformers: The Last Knight and Guardians Of The Galaxy.
- Ginny Holder, who was seen in Mother Father Son and Death In Paradise.
- Ralph Ineson from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.
- Sophia Brown of Clique and Marcella fame.
- Paul Ritter, who was in Chernobyl and Friday Night Dinner.
Additionally, Cavan Clerkin (The Last Kingdom, The Inbetweeners), Barry Ward (Jimmy’s Hall, Save Me), Ginny Holder (Death in Paradise, Holby City) and Nigel Lindsay (Four Lions, Victoria) will also star.
Furthermore, they will feature alongside lead actors Callum Turner (War And Peace, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald) and Holliday Grainger (Strike, Cinderella).
Elsewhere, Famke Janssen raved about the new series and why viewers should watch it.
He enthused: “What I think is wonderful about The Capture, and why I believe people will really want to watch, is that they will be constantly guessing and wondering and trying to be ahead of the story, but the story is always ahead of them.
“There’s so much intrigue, it's a spider’s web that you will want to get to the centre of.”
