Vikings season 6 spoilers: Lagertha fans in turmoil as her death is 'confirmed' in post

Vikings has seen a number of characters die throughout the five seasons so far. From smaller deaths, to enormous, impactful losses, the show’s fans have gotten used to losing the characters they have been watching for some time. Perhaps the biggest death of all so far has been that of Ragnar Lothbrok (played by Travis Fimmel). With the repercussions of his death still being felt today, fans are not yet ready to lose anyone else of such importance.

With that said, the show’s Instagram account has been gearing up its promotional material, and recently began posting clips from the show.

The most recent video clip came from season four, and saw much-loved warrior Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) speaking to The Seer (John Kavanagh) back in season four.

During the conversation Lagertha was told she would be killed by one of Ragnar’s sons.

This harrowing clip was accompanied by the caption: “And so it has come to pass. A prophecy revealed. It is too late to change it. #Vikings #TheSeer #Lagertha #Ragnar #FlashbackFriday.”

The combination of this clip and the caption seems to point towards the confirmation of Lagertha’s death.

However, despite the news supposedly being confirmed, fans still aren’t quite sure who will be the person to finally kill the shieldmaiden.

Commenting on the post, one fan wrote: “Yes finally, I want Ivar to do it! Ivar! Ivar! Ivar!”

Another agreed: “Ivar most def,” while a third chimed in to add: “Ivar will kill her.”

Other fans were a little distraught by this news, and were not too happy about the news of the upcoming loss of their favourite character.

One complained: “Ohhh no!! You’re not going anywhere. You’re my favourite!!”

Considering Ivar the Boneless (Alexander Hogh Andersen) is currently at war with Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), all signs could point towards him killing off Lagertha.

However as Ivar isn’t exactly the best warrior on the show, he could certainly struggle to kill Lagertha – who has lived through a number of battles in her life.

Does this then mean Ivar will find some sort of sneaky way to kill of Lagertha, enraging Bjorn further?

With the war between Ivar and Bjorn being focussed on in the final season, it makes sense for the pair to clash over a number of events.

Meanwhile, fans of the show have been theorising over the events that may or may not occur after watching the show’s latest trailer.

Reddit user IngvarValyria recently suggested: “In the trailer we see what’s probably Greek fire spreading on the water surface, and that was produced by the Byzantine empire.

“We also see an enormous battle on the beach, and we know that Bjorn was defeated in a naval battle by Greek fire.

“We also know that in 868 Harald became king of all Norway after a great naval battle. Harald saved Bjorns life, and that could be a suggestion or a parallel.”

But will the pair find themselves teaming up in the show’s final scenes?
