Ivar (played by Alex Hogh Andersen) is the son of the late fan-favourite Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) on Vikings, and become well-known for his merciless invasion of several Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.

Vikings viewers are expecting Ivar to finally get his comeuppance on the series in season six, after years of bloodshed and a seriously cutthroat attitude to running his armies.

But in a new turnaround, the leader could end up having a major new ally during the latest series.

Actor Andrei Claude has been posting to his Instagram account the details of his upcoming role on Vikings.

So far, there has been no official confirmation from History Channel regarding the star’s new role, but the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) lists Andrei appearing in several episodes.

It is also listed that his character name is Ganbaatar.

While details from the show remain under wraps, Andrei has been delighting fans with various details about the upcoming series.

One image featured the Vikings logo and teased fans season six of the series is “coming soon”.

“The sixth and final season of @historyvikings is coming soon. All I can say is prepare for the unexpected, again and again. #vikings #historyvikings,” Andrei wrote.

Flocking to the comments, fans shared their excitement at the news.
