Jax Taylor quit Vanderpump Rules at the end of 2020 and is feeling reminiscent about his time on the series. The reality TV personality was portrayed as a villain on the show, something he said was manipulated. In a recent interview he said that producers didn’t want him to grow up but life eventually changed him.
Why did Jax Taylor quit ‘Vanderpump Rules?’
Taylor is at a different point in his life right now as he is about to become a father very soon. The former Bravo bad boy is expecting his first baby with his wife Brittany Cartwright. They both announced their decision to leave Vanderpump Rules at the end of 2020 amid several firings of cast members for racist behavior.
“The last 8 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding, and fulfilling years of my life,” Taylor posted on Instagram announcing his exit. “Although this is difficult to share, Brittany and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors.”
Taylor’s post came weeks after he said he was expected to start filming the show soon.
“We’re supposed to go back to filming. Vanderpump Rules is supposed to go back to filming,” Taylor said during a Periscope broadcast. “In fact, we were supposed to go back this month, in fact, I think. We’re supposed to. That’s the last I heard. We were supposed to. But it’s just a matter of when they’re gonna allow us.”
Jax Taylor says editors made him look bad
Although Taylor won’t be returning to Vanderpump Rules when the show goes back into production, he recently talked about his experience in the series. During an Instagram Live broadcast, he said that editors made him look bad on the show.
“They did a good job making me look bad. One year, they thought I was gay, the next year I was homophobic… They were throwing things at me and it hurt my feelings,” he said according to Reality Blurb. “Things were getting [scripted] and they were getting frustrated with me because I was declining to do things. ‘If you’re not going to go back to SUR… and be the person you were.’ They didn’t want me to grow up. And when I did, they didn’t want to film it because it was boring.”
Taylor alleges that he matured and wasn’t the same person he was when the show started. Fans of the show may remember that during the final moments of season 8 he had a heated exchange with Lisa Vanderpump. In the explosive conversation he said that Vanderpump Rules was his show, which Lisa pushed back on since she’s an executive producer.
He also explained that he was not invested in the show anymore as he once was.
“The last three years of Vanderpump Rules, I was 90 percent checked out,” he added. “I couldn’t go on faking it. I have no interest in any of the things they are doing on that show. I’m a dad. I’m 40-years-old. It didn’t make sense for me to pretend to work at SUR.”
Bravo has not confirmed when Vanderpump Rules is expected to return to the cable network.
