To make its debut in 2020, the new series is created by ‘The Flash’ executive producer Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, and will see the two stars returning as Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
AceShowbiz –Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch (Bitsie Tulloch) are returning to TV as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for a new TV special.
The two stars have played the lovers onscreen in “Supergirl” and “Arrow“, but now they are getting their own drama, created by “The Flash” executive producer Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti.
Based on the DC Comics characters, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, “Superman & Lois” will debut next year (2020), while Hoechlin and Tulloch will also portray Kent/Superman and Lois Lane in an upcoming crossover event featuring all of the CW network’s DC characters, including another two Superman actors – Brandon Routh, who played Clark Kent and his alter ego in 2006 film “Superman Returns“, and “Smallville“‘s Tom Welling.
Superman and his reporter girlfriend have also previously been portrayed on the small screen by Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher for 1990s series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, and Cain recently confessed he is hoping for a revival over two decades after the bizarre series conclusion in 1997.
“I would love to see that happen because I think we ended on the weirdest note ever, and so we’ve talked about it and I would love to see what they are doing 25 years later, and I’d love to see that situation,” he tells Entertainment Tonight, noting that the show ended with characters Lois and Clark receiving a mystery baby as a gift.
Dean’s co-star Teri is on board with the update and he is just putting the finishing touches to a story line before shopping the project to producers.
“She agrees that it would be a great idea. I just don’t know if we agree on what should be happening, which is perfect for Lois and Clark,” he shares. “I’ve already started writing little bits and pieces down, so we’ll see if I can convince someone to make six, 10, 12 episodes.”
