ELAINE Metcalfe is over the moon and ready for a new chance at love with Stephen Reid.
But her son Tim does all he can to stop her from leaving Coronation Street and tying the knot with the serial killer.
The Weatherfield cabbie portrayed by Joe Duttine is finding it hard to trust Stephen Reid and has made it clear on multiple occasions.
Sadly, this is due to drive a wedge between him and his mother Elaine (played by Paula Wilcox) in scenes airing on ITV next week.
Elaine, who has had her eye on Stephen since he first returned to the cobbles in June, 2022, was beyond ecstatic when she became engaged to the businessman, although he insisted their engagement should remain a secret.
Coming up, she agrees to fly out to Las Vegas with Stephen one afternoon to tie the knot once and for all.

However, her daughter-in-law Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) is struggling to be happy for her and, reeling from shock, she breaks the news to Tim herself.
This prompts him to hatch a quick plan as he offers to run Elaine and Stephen to the airport, making out that he accepts their marriage plans.
Tim lures his mother into his taxi but, much to her horror, he speeds away, making her his hostage, and leaves Stephen on the doorstep.
Sally and Stephen watch in disbelief – but will Tim really be able to put a stop to his mother's wedding?

Stephen has joined the list of Corrie's most blood-thirsty serial killers after claiming his third victim, Rufus Donahue.
This followed him taking control of the Underworld factory by spiking Carla Connor with LSD.
Earlier in 2023, Stephen took hold of a hole-puncher and struck Teddy Thompkins over the head before disposing of his body.
Teddy had caught on to Stephen's dangerous game and paid the price when he revealed he knew all about Leo Thompkins' death – which the villain was obviously responsible for.
Could Tim discover the truth and be next on Stephen's hit list?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
