Comedian Ellie Taylor was revealed as the ninth celebrity taking part in the 20th series of the Strictly at the start of August. Although the 38-year-old is getting ready to make her dancing debut this weekend, Strictly Come Dancing viewers could potentially be seeing her partner take to the ballroom next.
Who is Ellie Taylor’s husband?
Born in Brentwood, Essex on November 28 1983, the Strictly star is currently 38 years old.
Ellie originally started her career in modelling before she decided to turn to comedy in her 20s and was spotted in the ITV series Show Me the Funny.
However, it wasn’t until 2015 when she appeared in the 14th series of Mock the Week that she started to become well-known.
Two years after joining the show, Ellie then played the role of newsreader Susan in the BBC comedy sketches The Marsh Report.
Although the series is purely fiction, her character’s career mirrors that of her husband Phil Black who is also in the anchoring world.
Ellie and Phil married back in 2014 and share one daughter together called Valentina who was born four years ago.
Phil is a freelance Australian reporter who joined CNN International in 2007 and has covered a series of hard-hitting news.
Recently, he reported on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and along with reported on the Russian-Georgian conflict in 2008 which broke out over separatist South Ossetia.
“The scariest place I’ve ever known was my bedroom at night when it was just me and the baby, when you feel like you’re the only person awake in the whole wide world,” she told Express and Star.
The star has been praised for opening up about motherhood in her book My Child and Other Mistakes: How to ruin your life in the best way as she offers a raw and honest insight into parenthood.
Despite being known for her comedy career, Ellie is also an actress and made her acting debut in 2013 in the Chris O’Dowd series Family Tree.
Since then, she’s featured in the Comedy Central series Brotherhood, Disney’s The Lodge, ITV’s Plebs and most recently the Apple TV’s hit show Ted Lasso.
Ahead of her Strictly debut, Ellie, revealed she’s over the moon to be taking part as she’s a fan of the show.
When it was announced that the comedian would be taking part, she told the BBC: “Well, cover me in fake tan and roll me in sequins!
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be a part of Strictly 2022! I’ve watched the show for years so to be able to take to the dance floor is a dream come true, for both me and mum who is a Strictly superfan!
“At the moment I’m focusing on the excitement and glitter and choosing to ignore the fact that I have the dancing ability of a newly born giraffe. Bring it on!”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Friday at 7pm
