‘Children of the Corn’
Wait…you haven’t seen this Stephen King classic yet? WYD? This 1984 horror movie is about a town in Nebraska where the kids murder all of the adults. You should prob watch this the next time you think being an adult is the worst because you have to make your own dentist appointments.

You know why apocalypse movies are so damn scary? Because when you actually think about it, they could potentially happen IRL. In What We Become, a nasty plague hits a suburban town, and it’s pretty much the end of the world. Have fun bathing in Purell after this one.

This indie flick is about a man named Mark who disappeared from his home two years ago. Now, his friend thinks he’s back…but possessed by some sort of evil being. A YouTube comment on the trailer describes this as the “probably the most messed up movie I’ve watched in a while,” and if it’s in a YouTube comment, it’s legit. (I don’t make the rules, sorry!)

‘The Last Exorcism’
Movies that pretend to be documentaries are some of the scariest things you could possibly watch. (The Blair Witch Project and The Fourth Kind still haunt me to this day, TYVM.) The Last Exorcism is about a priest who allows a film crew to create a documentary of the last exorcism he’ll ever perform, and yes, it’s as freaky as it sounds.

Hounds of Love isn’t like, “BOO!” scary. It’s messed-up scary…which is even more horrible! It’s about an Australian teen who gets abducted by a serial killer couple in the ’80s, and personally, I almost tapped out of watching this film about 175 times. Also, it’s loosely based on real events. It’s the worst! And the best!

Okay, so maybe the special effects in The Amityville Horror aren’t as convincing today as they were in 1979. But, the movie’s a classic AND based on a true story, so you can’t even save yourself with that “well, it’s not technically real” BS.

If you’ve ever scrolled through Instagram and wondered why everyone goes to like, Italy, on their honeymoons, this movie might clear that up for you. A couple spends their post-wedding trip in a cabin in the woods (???) and the wife briefly goes missing in the woods. When she returns, she’s weird as hell…and things really just go downhill from there.

There’s like…a 99% chance that if you watch Final Destination, you’ll experience nightmares that feel like they’re loosely based on the plot. (Which, BTW, is that a group of teens almost die in a plane explosion…but don’t. So now, death is comin’ for them.)

Yikes. Mom and Dad puts a really dark twist on the whole, “I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it!” cliché your parents emptily threatened you with as a kid. All of the parents in this town go nuts and try to kill all of their children. Also, you should probably know that the dad is Nicolas Cage…if that makes it any scarier for you.

‘The Canal’
Uh, definitely do not watch this one if you’re the kind of paranoid person who sneaks into your significant other’s phone when they’re in the shower. The Canal is about a man who thinks his wife is cheating, right around the same time that he accidentally sees old footage of a brutal murder happening at his house in 1902. He starts to spiral when his wife’s body is found in a nearby canal, which is when it gets super scary.
