The Script for Sex and the City 3 was never revealed to the public. The planned movie was canceled after Kim Cattrall, who portrayed Samantha Jones for six seasons, pulled out of the flick at the last moment. That hasn’t stopped people from discussing the contents of that script, though. While it’s largely accepted that Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw’s main love interest, dies in the early moments of the movie, one key actor doesn’t think that’s what happened. Chris Noth, who portrayed Mr. Big for all six seasons of the series, has said that he is confident Mr. Big made it through Sex and the City 3 unscathed.
Sex and the City 3 was reportedly just days from production when it was canceled
In September 2017, fans were dismayed to find out the third Sex and the City film had been scrapped. The cancellation didn’t just upset fans; the show’s stars were all, seemingly, disappointed, too. The only one who wasn’t disappointed was Cattrall. The actor is rumored to be the reason the movie was canceled. Over the years, she’s spoken openly about her decision to walk away from her iconic role.
The cancellation seemed especially harsh because of how it happened. Reportedly, the film was canceled just a week before pre-production on the movie was set to begin. Willie Garson, who portrayed Stanford Blatch, revealed that Cattrall had been in negotiations with the production company for six months before deciding to bail on the film.
James Andrew Miller reported that the third movie focused on the death of Mr. Big
James Andrew Miller initially broke the news that the third film focused on Mr. Big’s death in November 2018. In his podcast, Origins, Miller revealed that most of the script focused on Carrie carrying on after the death of her big love. According to Miller, the script called for Noth’s character to die of a heart attack in the early moments of the movie.
The script was reportedly why Cattrall decided to pass on the film. According to Bustle, a source close to Cattrall claimed the actor felt like the script focused too much on Carrie and left little room for Samantha’s character development. There might be more to the story, though. Rumors also swirled that Samantha had an unsavory storyline that didn’t sit well with Cattrall.
Chris Noth is fairly certain Mr. Big would have made it through Sex and the City 3
While Miller, who has connected with most of the show’s stars on his podcast, may think Mr. Big was going to die in the film, Noth has a completely different idea. In December 2018, after Miller revealed the movie’s big storyline, The Sun caught up with Noth. The famed actor told the publication that he is fairly certain Mr. Big would have made it through the third movie unscathed.
Noth suggested that the leaked information was all a lie but stopped short of telling who he thinks might have leaked the reported storyline. Noth, however, is said to have never actually read the script.
