Ree Drummond is one of the most beloved stars of the Food Network. The television personality is the star of The Pioneer Woman and viewers are invited into her ranch every week to see what she’s cooking. However, the Osage County resident is making headlines for other reasons and they’re not necessarily good. This week her nephew Caleb Drummond was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and it’s not good.
Why did Caleb Drummond get arrested?
If there’s one thing fans love about Ree’s show on the Food Network, it is how close-knit her family is. All of the episodes revolve around getting the family together to share a delicious meal. The family must’ve been rattled when they heard the news that Caleb had been arrested with a DUI.
According to Osage County arrest records, the 21-year-old was detained with charges for driving under the influence. E! News is reporting that he was also “transporting an open container of beer and carrying firearms while under the influence.”
The arrest happened during the morning hours of Saturday, April 17 and it’s unclear of Caleb is still detained or was release. Furthermore, the Osage County Sheriff’s Department is saying that the charges are still pending and the investigation is ongoing.
One month after Ladd Drummond’s accident
This is not the first time Caleb makes the news. About a month ago, Ree’s husband Ladd Drummond was involved in a vehicle accident at the ranch that sent him to the hospital. The 52-year-old and Caleb driving in separate vehicles when they somehow collided.
A report from News 6 stated that Caleb was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The 21-year-old was ejected from the truck he was driving while battling a fire at the ranch. Caleb was rushed to the hospital in critical conditions while Ladd didn’t report any serious injuries.
After the incident, Ree posted a blog on her website with an update on her husband and nephew’s health. The TV star said that Caleb had broken “some ribs, had a pretty bad concussion, and a few other injuries that will heal.” Although Ladd said he was fine, Ree said that he actually “broke his neck in two places,” and one of the fractures could’ve been catastrophic. However, thankfully he was treated and “had surgery to stabilize one of the fractures,” adding that the danger was over.
Ree Drummond is a ‘steel magnolia’
The Pioneer Woman star shared details about what she felt having her husband and nephew at the hospital at the same time. Showing how strong she is during the time of crisis, she said she was standing firm like a steel magnolia.
“Dealing with unexpected family happenings like this simply comes with the territory,” she wrote. “I guess if you’ve lived enough years as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, you’re going to develop the ability to power through crises without crumbling. I may still have a crumble ahead, don’t get me wrong…but right now I’m firmly in Steel Magnolia mode.”
At the end of it all, Ree was grateful for both guys being OK and “for the love, kindness, and prayers” her fans sent during the difficult process.
