Fans are excited that ‘Birds of Prey’ is led by women
Not only does Birds of Prey star several women, Cathy Yan is the director and Christina Hodson is the screenwriter. Just based on the trailer alone, it’s easy to see that the project is led by women. Based on the costumes and characterization of Harley Quinn, the character is no longer overtly sexualized or trapped in an abusive relationship.

DC movies have been hit or miss with fans. Only a few have been praised by critics, and most fans are split down the middle about the quality of the films. The new Birds of Prey trailer made DC fans excited about the quality of the movie. Even before the trailer dropped, fans were excited.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for a DC movie trailer drop as a I am Birds of Prey. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I’m gonna cry I’m so excited for this one. Almost all of my favorite DC ladies!! And done well! This will be a day one watch for me. (Waiting to see the Joker because well.. it’s the Joker)…,” a fan tweeted.
Another fan tweeted, “God, I started the trailer and when I realized I was smiling like a baby! I never thought that I would be sooo excited about a Birds of Prey movie, I mean… I never thought that I would lose interest in the MCU movies and be crazy for a DC movie…”
What is ‘Birds of Prey’ about?
According to Wikipedia, “After the events of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When a young girl named Cassandra Cain comes across a diamond belonging to a crime lord by the name of Black Mask, Harley joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to protect her.”
In Suicide Squad, Robbie’s Harley Quinn was arguably the breakout star. The full title of the upcoming movie is Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The full title references Harley escaping from her abusive relationship with Joker.
Chris Messina appears as Victor Zsasz and Ewan McGregor appears as the main villain of the film, Black Mask. Ella Jay Basco appears as Cassandra Cain. Fans are excited to see McGregor as Black Mask.
