Two days earlier than usual, Disney+ users traveled on a new journey with this bounty hunter and the Child. In this chapter, a Guild member extends his friendship to the Mandalorian — or does he? Here’s what you might’ve missed from the latest episode of the streaming platform’s original series, The Mandalorian, entitled “The Reckoning.”
This article contains spoilers of episode six of The Mandalorian, entitled The Reckoning!
The Mandalorian receives a proposition from Greef Karga
Back in his ship, the Mandalorian receives a transmission from Greef Karga. You know, the guy from the Guild who tried to kill him at the start of the season? The man explains that since the Mandalorian went rogue their little outpost has become overrun with stormtroopers and Imperial officers, all looking for the Child.
If the Mandalorian returns with the Child as bait, Greef Karga explains, they could get close enough to the man in charge to kill him. The bounty hunter agrees to go back, but, he decides, there’s no way he’s doing this alone. First, he finds Cara Dune and she agrees to come. He then goes back to Kuiil’s planet, asking him to come and take care of the Child.
He’s surprised to find that the IG-11 droid is alive and serving tea, but Kuiil reassures him that he reprogrammed the droid after the Mandalorian shot it. Oh, and if he’s coming to take care of the child, the droid and three blurrgs are coming with him. The Mandalorian agrees.
The trio returns to see Greef Karga and other members of the Guild
Cara Dune, Kuiil, the Child and the Mandalorian land their ship and they’re greeted by Greef Karga and three other “Guild” members. Greef Karga suggests that because she’s a former Shock trooper, Cara Dune should stay behind with the ship but, of course, the Mandalorian disagrees. They plan to make camp overnight and then arrive at the outpost first thing in the morning.
While they’re all sitting around eating dinner and going over their plan, Greef Karga and two of the blurrgs are attacked by a dragon-esque animal. They manage to scare it away, but Greef Karga is seriously injured and poisoned. When they think there’s nothing else they can do to help, the Child walks over and touches the wound, healing it almost instantly.
The Child saves another person
The next morning, the crew reaches the town and surprisingly, Greef Karga kills the other Guild members he brought with him. He turns to the Mandalorian and explains their they initially planned to kill him, but after what happened with the Child last night, he understands the need to protect it.
They change their plan, having the Mandalorian pretend to be captured by Cara Dune. Kuiil takes the child out of its capsule and heads back to the ship on the remaining blurrg. The Mandalorian closes the capsule, so it looks like the Child is inside and walk into the town.
Cara Dune, the Mandalorian, and Greef Karga come face to face with this Imperial sympathizer
Their plan works. They pass countless storm troopers and come face-to-face with the man who hired the Mandalorian in the first place. While the man takes a phone call, the Mandalorian wiggles out of his handcuffs and grabs a blaster from Greef Karga. He shoots the Imperial officer, but because he was on the phone with another man who worked for the Empire, dozens of stormtroopers descend on them.
The Mandalorian calls Kuiil and tells him to just take the Child and bail — they need to get it out of the hands of the Empire. Two stormtroopers hear the call and speed over to where Kuiil is. They kill him and scoop up the Child as even more stormtroopers trap Greef Karga, Cara Dune, and the Mandalorian.
