This Morning: Janine Lindo discusses Handmaid's Tale future
The Handmaid’s Tale’s highly anticipated sixth season will return for its final instalment this year. With June Osborne’s (played by Elisabeth Moss) uncertain future, fans believe she could face more heartache and hardship when the Hulu drama returns.
The acclaimed dystopian drama came to a shock ending, with June being reunited with her former captor Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski).
However, this time they were both on the run from Gilead, with their children in their arms.
While June was fleeing the Gilead apologists in Canada, Serena was running away from the laws she wrote, which used women as babymaking machines.
As fans anticipate what their reunion could mean, many believe there could be something more sinister at play.
Taking to a fan page, Redditor u/Ideal_Chaos_Theory wrote: “Personally, I think Serena is going to turn on June.
“Throughout the series, her character is an opportunist. I think she believes that her humility/conversion is real, but only because it suits her at the moment.
“I have a feeling that when she is presented with an opportunity for more power, she will take it.”
The fan speculated: “Serena will somehow play a power move that backfires and will lead to her ultimate downfall, but may also have consequences for June.

“I think it will result in June and Nichole getting separated.”
Fans will recall, when June was working as a Handmaid for Serena and her husband Fred Waterford (Joseph Finnes), she was forced to be a surrogate for them.
While she attempted to flee captivity, June gave birth to Nichole, who was initially promised to Fred and Serena.
However, before they could permanently home the baby, June gave Nichole to Emily Malek (Alexis Bledel) who was able to gain freedom in Canada.

With Serena reunited with June and Nichole, it’s likely she could try to regain June’s trust and kidnap Nichole.
After all, she was responsible for the separation between June and her eldest daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake).
When Gilead gained control of the United States, Hannah was ripped from June’s arms and rehomed with Commander (Jason Butler Harner) and Mrs MacKenzie (Amy Landecker).
June made countless attempts to rescue her daughter before fleeing and gaining freedom in Canada.
When she finally became a free woman in Canada, June was in tears and apologetic to her husband Luke Bankole (OT Fagbenle) for leaving their daughter in Gilead.
However, he reassured her they could work together to rescue Hannah, with the help of Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) who was a commander in Gilead but often helped June from afar.
With Hannah still held in captivity, fans were able to sigh a breath of relief as it was revealed the youngster remembered who she was.
During season five, episode nine, instead of writing her new name Agnes, she wrote “Hannah,” further proving the attempted indoctrination did not work.
The Handmaid’s Tale seasons 1-5 are available on Hulu in the USA and on All 4 in the UK.
