The Chase fans were treated to a good game this evening as the team of four all made it through to the final round and went head to head with Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace. However, with a few seconds remaining, the quiz master managed to catch up the team’s 19 steps and eliminated them. But, those watching at home were convinced an answer Shaun provided in the final moments was not correctly specified despite host Bradley Walsh allowing it.

Today it was the turn of Jim, a 52-year old IT solutions specialist, Jess a 23-year old marketing managed, Mark, a 31-year-old radio presenter and Marina, a 49-year old school secretary to take on Shaun.

Together, they each managed to make it back and had accumulated a comfortable £21,000.

Heading into the final round, they were given a four-step head start, for each player and began the final chase.

They managed to answer 15 questions correctly, but to wasn’t enough to stop The Dark Destroyer.

Towards the end, as the clock ticked, Shaun was asked: “What does the term AWOL stand for?”

He replied: “Absent Without Leave.”

Bradley accepted this answer but according to a few eagle-eyed viewers, they didn’t think it was correct.

Taking to Twitter to discuss, one said: “#TheChase I know it might be an old episode but the contestants were robbed AWOL is absent without official leave not absent without leave as Shaun said naughty naughty.”

#TheChase AWOL is Absent Without Official Leave. Not Absent Without Leave,” another remarked.

Someone else commented: “Absent Without OFFICIAL Leave…”

Either way, it wouldn’t have mattered, because Shaun had several seconds to spare.

Discussing the defeat, Bradley turned to the team and said: “Four opporuntities to pushback, two executed, ouch that’s tough to take.”

He then told Shaun: “You had great rhythm at the end, very good.”
