The former Bachelor, Colton Underwood, confirmed today, March 20, 2020, that he tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). As the virus continues to spread throughout our country, many celebrities share Public Service Announcements to practice social distancing.
However, Underwood visited numerous places in the past 10-14 days when he might have been contagious with the virus.
‘The Bachelor’ Colton Underwood went to the movies while likely contagious with the coronavirus
The coronavirus is “spreading easily and sustainably in the community,” and was first detected in the United States on Jan. 12, 2020, according to the CDC website.
“For COVID-19, the period of quarantine is 14 days from the last date of exposure, because 14 days is the longest incubation period seen for similar coronaviruses,” according to the CDC website.
So, once someone is exposed to the virus, they might not show symptoms for up to 14 days. Underwood went to several places in the last two weeks where he could have spread the virus.
“Last night I planned date night, and we saw @istillbelieve,” Underwood wrote on Instagram on March 13, 2020. “What a great movie about music, love, and the power of faith. #IStillBelieve is in theaters tomorrow!”
He attended a movie only one week before testing positive for the coronavirus. He was with his girlfriend, Cassie Randolph, who he fell in love with on season 23 of The Bachelor, as well as a group of friends.
Underwood went to the beach 4 days before testing positive for the coronavirus
“While we were in isolation yesterday, we decided to take a quick trip to the ocean and swim,” Underwood wrote on Instagram on March 16, 2020. “It was cut short after a stingray stung @cassierandolph in the foot. Mother Nature sent us a warning shot to get back inside.”
Randolph had a strange reaction to the venom and ended up in the hospital from the stingray. So, not only did Underwood likely expose other people to the virus at the beach but in a local hospital as well.
Bachelor fans on Instagram made numerous comments to Underwood, suggesting that the couple should not have been out at the beach, to begin with. Now that he has tested positive for the coronavirus, many others are complaining that he was spreading the virus at both the beach and the hospital.
Underwood attended a Cystic Fibrosis Benefit with Patti Murin and Colin Donnell
On March 8, 2020, Chicago Med alum Patti Murin shared a photo of her and Colin Donnell attending the AA Celebrity Ski event to benefit Cystic Fibrosis. In her caption, she thanked Underwood for inviting them to the benefit with him.
“We met a whole new family of inspiring, endlessly generous humans, and we feel so fortunate to have had this experience,” Murin captioned the photo of her and Donnell. “First of many, we hope! Thank you @americanair @cf_foundation @coltonunderwood for having us along.”
It is possible that Underwood was exposed to someone who had the coronavirus while at the event in Colorado. The timing would seem appropriate since the event was 12 to 14 days before the positive test.
He also might have had the virus and spread it to others while there. We hope that Underwood and Randolph will both stay inside now that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
