STRICTLY Come Dancing allegedly has a 'secret rule' to ban stars from a show on rival network ITV from ever appearing.

It has been claimed that previous competitors on Dancing on Ice do not get a look in when it comes to the casting decisions of Strictly each year.

Previous Dancing on Ice winner Jake Quickenden spoke out on the 'ban' in a chat with the Daily Star in which he revealed that his association with the skating show led to the booker of Strictly turning him down.

Jake confessed he would love to join the BBC dancing show but insisted they were 'not having it'.

He said: "I'd love to do Strictly – the booker, she's not having it.

"I don't think anyone has done Dancing On Ice to Strictly, its always been Strictly to Dancing On Ice, but they need to mix it up and get me on there."

His theory stacks up well with no previous contestant on Dancing on Ice having ever gone on to take a spin in the ballroom.

Despite this, a number of stars who took to the dancefloor have managed to make their way over to the ice on ITV – including a number of Strictly pros.

Denise Van Outen appeared on the BBC reality show in 2012 and then went onto have a stint on Dancing on Ice in 2021.

Welsh athlete Colin Jackson also enjoyed a turn on both programme signing up with the Beeb in 2005 before appearing alongside Denise in 2021.

Pro stars James Jordan and Brendan Cole have also both made the switch to being celeb stars on Dancing on Ice following their exits from the BBC rival.

The Sun has contacted the BBC for comment.

The next series of the BBC hit is expected to launch in September with a number of stars already signed up.

The Sun exclusively revealed that ex Coronation Street star Ellie Leach would be on the bill following her exit from the soap.

A TV insider said: “This could be just the tonic for Ellie, who’s had some huge life changes this year and could do with something fresh to focus on.

“As well as splitting from Reagan she left Corrie, a show which she effectively grew up on as she joined the cast when she was just a child.

“It’s going to take some adjusting to, but Strictly is part of opening up a new chapter for Ellie."

Her addition to the line-up, which has yet to be confirmed by the BBC, will see the show sign up the “full soap set” as it’s already set to include former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, 34, as well as EastEnders’ Bobby Brazier, 20, who is the late Jade Goody’s son.
