Strictly: Tess and Claudia introduce the judges

Week Six marked Musicals Week as the couples took on some big show tunes in the hopes of wowing the judging panel. While some impressed with their fancy footwork, others left much to be desired. But where did the celebrities end up in the overall leaderboard?

Who is at the top of the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard?

HRVY and partner Janette Manrara came top of the leaderboard with 29.

At the other end of the leaderboard was JJ Chalmers and partner Amy Dowden who were languishing in bottom place with 20.

This evening comedian Bill Bailey and partner Oti Mabuse performed an Argentine Tango to Phantom of the Opera from Lord Webber’s haunting musical of the same name.

While pop star HRVY and Janette Manrara took on an American Smooth to One (Singular Sensation) from A Chorus Line.

Broadcaster JJ Chalmers and Amy Dowden brought some fun with their Charleston with the number Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which is from the musical of the same name.

Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh and partner Giovanni Pernice brought some Ballroom magic to the evening with Viennese Waltz to She Used To Be Mine from Waitress.

Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer danced a Jive to the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie from the show.

Finally, EastEnders star Maisie Smith and Gorka Márquez did a Jive to Little Shop of Horrors from Little Shop of Horrors.

The vote lines are now open and fans will have the chance to choose their favourite couple of the evening to save.

Results are based on the judges’ scores and the public vote, which have a 50-50 bearing on whether a couple will end up in the dance-off.

A star can get a high score from the panel but if they don’t have the public backing, they can often find themselves in the danger zone.

Soap star Maisie has found herself in this situation this year after getting strong judges’ marks but not having the votes needed.

Fans will have to wait until tomorrow to find out the outcome of the vote with another couple performing one last time before bowing out.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo became the latest star to be sent home from the competition last week after she ended up in the dance-off against Jamie.

The star had quite a rollercoaster ride during her time on Strictly, coming out on top one week and ending up at the bottom the following one.

HRVY and Ranvir have both consistently impressed the judges with some wondering they could be in the all-important final.

Maisie, too, has also brought her A-game week after week as she’s taken on a new routine.

Dark horse Bill has also proved he’s a force to be reckoned with and brought out some moves whether performing a Latin, Ballroom or contemporary routine.

With different celebrities reaching the top of the leaderboard nearly every week, it looks like it could be anyone’s game this year with the person lifting the Glitterball Trophy perhaps surprising the nation.

There were fears Strictly wouldn’t be going ahead this year due to the coronavirus pandemic but the producers were determined to bring some sparkle to 2020 with the show managing to happen against all odds.

Strictly also saw its first same-sex couple this year after Olympic boxer Nicola Adams was paired up with Katya Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One tomorrow at 7.30pm
