Strictly: Amanda and Giovanni are saved from elimination
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing were left emotional on Sunday night as they noticed Giovanni Pernice’s sweet nod to his former co-star Rose Ayling-Ellis.
In 2021, the professional dancer was partnered with the EastEnders actress as she made history by becoming the first deaf contestant on the BBC show.
Throughout their time on the series, viewers saw the pair use the British Sign Language symbol for “Thank you” each time they were saved by the public during the results show.
After winning the show two years ago, it looks as though Giovanni has continued to make the same gesture as fans have noticed him do it this year with his celebrity match Amanda Abbington.
On Sunday night, Giovanni and Amanda were told by presenter Tess Daly they had survived the public vote and would be dancing next Saturday.

As the 33-year-old used the British Sign Language symbol for “Thank you”, it wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to praise the dancer for his gesture.
@SusanBunch17 commented: “I love that @pernicegiovann1 does the signing for thank you when he gets voted through on #Strictly.”
@Chelseeea92 added: “Giovanni still doing the sign for thank you.”
@ladyvmj2014 said: “Love the way some of them still say thank you to the camera using sign language because of @RoseAylingEllis.”

@strengthtodream tweeted: “I noticed on the results show, that Giovanni still signs thank you as well as speaking it when he gets through, still remembering the importance of that inclusion he learned from Rose. Little things like that make #Strictly great.”
@lightsandsounds said: “Giovanni continuing to sign after being partnered with Rose always gets me.”
With @stuartwilks commenting: “I love how @RoseAylingEllis has introduced a legacy of sign language and awareness/inclusivity in British TV via #strictly – brilliant.”
Giovanni and Amanda impressed the judges on Saturday night by being the first duo to tackle the Rumba for Movie Week.
The duo were given a score of 30, which put them fifth on the leaderboard alongside Annabel Croft and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
However, it was Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu who stole the night after being given an impressive score of 35 which put them straight at the top of the leaderboard.
On the other end of the scale, Jody Cundy and Jowita Przystal are currently in last place after being given a total of 20 by the judges.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 6:30pm
