Strictly: Carlos Gu in tears after dance with Angela Scanlon
Strictly Come Dancing fans believe there could be an ongoing “feud” between Shirley Ballas and Layton Williams.
On Sunday night, Layton and Nikita Kuzmin landed in the dance-off against Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu.
And while three of the judges decided to save Layton, Shirley admitted she would have saved Angela.
The actor and his dance partner scored a respectable 34 points on Saturday night, although, head judge Shirley described their footwork as “lumpy”.
She told them: “It was not your best today.”

When discussing who she would have saved, Shirley said: “Well important for me always when it comes to Ballroom and Latin is the character of the dance, that it’s true to the dance, timing and quality and I would have voted for Angela and Carlos.”
However, because the other judges voted to save Layton, Angela and Carlos were sent home.
However. fans were very vocal about Shirley’s decision and took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts.
@strengthtodream penned: “Between her comments last night and choosing to save Angela tonight, Shirley has an obvious personal problem with Layton and I won’t hear otherwise. I hope this won’t knock his confidence. #Strictly.”
CiaranTweets said: “Shirley! What is her b****y issue with Layton?? Like be real why would u not have saved the better dancer and dance (I love Angela btw) hurry up dancing with the stars and snap Shirley up please take her off our hands #Strictly.” (sic)

@sema_malik_WL went on: “Don’t get me wrong I love Angela & Carlos but there’s no way she was better than Layton. How can Shirley say she would’ve saved Angela when she made a mistake??”
@Damerella asked: “Does Shirley have an issue with Layton? #strictly #bbcstrictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
“Bit worried about Layton with Shirley being the deciding judge. Smells a bit whiffy. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing,” @IndiaWilloughby stated.
However, some fans defended Shirley’s decision as @Fiona_M tweeted: “In a way, it’s good Shirley pulled Layton up for once – he has been so perfect up to now, it is as if the audience needed an excuse not to vote for him -when maybe they were afraid to before. Or maybe now the audience have realised he should not win ?! #Strictly” (sic)
@MatthewPGormley agreed: “For the first time this series, that was the wrong result. Angela was much better than Layton. Shirley was spot on, as usual.”
When asked by Tess Daly about her time on the show, Angela said: “It’s been honestly incredible, I’m gutted, really gutted that it’s finished now, but it has been the most wonderful experience.
“I have made the best friend in this man [to Carlos]. We have had so much fun, he is such an incredible guy. He has supported me and picked me up and made me laugh so much.
“I don’t know what to say, it’s been magical honestly – all of those people up there! My husband at home, my two little girls and all my friends!”
Carlos broke down in tears as he went on: “Her commitment and her strength every day, day by day – I’m a professional dancer and she works so hard, harder than me!
“Look at her now – I am so proud, her sense of humour and we had so much fun everyday – she cracks me up laughing!”
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7.35pm on BBC One.
