Since exploding onto television screens up and down the nation, Strictly Come Dancing has taken over Saturday nights. In just five days time, one couple will be announced the 2019 winner and the race is on. Competing for the Glitterball Trophy are Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke, Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse and Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden. But during tonight’s It Takes Two show, a former Strictly professional dancer revealed the one reason why Eastenders star Emma may miss out on being this year’s victor.

Emma was tasked with performing two routines over the weekend, the Cha Cha Cha to Hold my Hand and a Waltz to Gymnopédie No. 1.

The judges scored her 31 for the Latin number and then 36 points for the Ballroom.

And for the final time, she escaped the dreaded dance off after gaining the public’s support to be sent straight through to the final.

With the chances of her winning the series high because of Anton’s popularity, it also seems, Anton could be Emma’s downfall.

It comes after a comment made on the spin off show, which was hosted by Rylan Clarke Neal and saw Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova invited into the studio for Choreography Corner earlier this evening.

BBC Two viewers tuned in to see them take a look back at the semi-final performances.

Rylan introduced: “We’ve had some amazing contestants this year, but we do have our three finalists and we need to talk about them!

“First up, let’s talk about Emma and Anton, they did that Cha Cha Cha, they kicked off the show.

“Emma’s always said Darren, she prefers doing the Ballroom a little bit more, because she enjoys all that. How did you find this routine?” He asked.

“Safe in Anton’s arms!” Darren muttered slyly before explaining: “You know what? This was definitely her best Latin routine.

“To perform this in the semi final, really really great from Emma.”

Despite the positive feedback from Darren and the judges alike, those watching Emma’s Cha Cha were left unimpressed by her efforts.

Many took to Twitter and claimed her routine was not worthy of one seven and three eights and claimed she was “overmarked”.

It comes after many eagle-eyed viewers have noticed the category of routines Emma is dancing every week.

Taking a look back at Strictly data, the last time Emma danced a Latin routine – apart from Saturday night’s Cha Cha – was back in week seven.

She and Anton took to the floor to perform the Rumba and were scored 22 points for their efforts.

There have been some suggestions claiming she is focussing on her strengths by dancing more Ballroom and Speciality Dances instead of Latin.

And should you look at all the scores she has been awarded, the ones for the Latin performances are significantly lower than the other categories.

But whether or not she performs a Latin number in the final, fans will have to wait until tomorrow when the songs and dances will be revealed.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday night for the grand final on BBC One.
