Stranger Things fans finally have something to look forward to as the release date for the long-awaited season four has been confirmed.
Season three of the hit sci-fi Netflix series aired back in 2019, and viewers have eagerly waited for three years for more drama, action and terror with Eleven and the gang.
And it has now been officially revealed that the fourth instalment will air in two volumes – the first premiering on May 27 and then July 1 this year.
With the Duffer brothers giving us double the amount of fun to make up for the long wait, it is evident that the fourth season will be the most coveted streaming event of the year.
The show has also confirmed that it will come to its conclusion with a fifth and final season.
We last saw Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and their pals go their separate ways at the end of season three.
The fourth season is set to pick up six months after the Battle of Starcourt, which appeared to leave Hopper dead.
However, it was previously confirmed that small-town cop Hopper, played by David Harbour, will return for season four.
Back in May 2021, a teaser trailer was released for the next instalment.
The clip warned of darker things in store for Hopper.
It read: "It's not all good news for our 'American'; he is imprisoned far from home in the showy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human … and other.
"Meanwhile, back in the States, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buries, something that connects everything…"
The likes of Winona Ryder, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke and Joe Keery are also set to return for season four.
Fans couldn't contain themselves as they heard of the release date for season four.
"I just saw an announcement for #StrangerThings (release date of upcoming season). I think we have enough time for a rewatch.
Very excited," one person tweeted.
Another said: "My favorite series is definitely back. Wondering what kind of adventure they have this season. Can't wait any longer!"
A third added: "FINALLY STRANGER THINGS.It took so much time but I know it will be worthy."
