Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) is set to go ito labour and give birth to a baby boy towards the end of the year in Emmerdale – but if grandma Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) wants any chance of being a part of his life, she will have to face up to the truth about her late son Lee – that he’s a rapist.
Fans have been unsettled as Wendy continues to be a thorn in Victoria’s side, practically harassing her. And now, she has turned up in the village and moved in for a permanent stay, which has left a shaken Victoria horrified.
Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) is less than enthusiastic to have Wendy around too as he associates her with the loss of his jailed husband Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). But as Aaron wages a campaign against Wendy, she digs her heels in, determined to be around for her grandson.
But will Victoria allow her into his life?
Speaking about the storyline, executive producer Jane Hudson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Isabel does the birth scenes brilliantly. It’s not a Christmas Day baby – we have that many Christmas Day birthdays we lose track – so we thought we’d go wild and do it a few days later.
‘Vic’s fear is “what if the baby just reminds her of the rape? Spoiler alert; she loves the baby, she doesn’t see Lee’s face. She’s then got to come home and Wendy is now living there. Wendy is torn between what people believe her son did, and her processing that – is she going to get to a point to accept what he did to have a relationship with her grandson?
‘Luke is in the mix, could he be a love interest for Vic? There is a lot going on.’
Jane also revealed a host of other dramatic storylines, including the murder of Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) abandoning her baby and Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) battling with drugs.
