SOUTHERN Charm's Thomas Ravenel split from his fiancée Heather Mascoe after he won custody of his kids with his ex Kathryn Dennis.
The former couple had been together for two years before the reality star popped the question last year.
Thomas confirmed the news in an exclusive statement to AllAbouttheTea.com.
“The engagement is over. Our friendship is the best it’s ever been but we’re ending our engagement to focus on our children," Thomas revealed.
He continued: “After careful thought and prayer, Heather and I have decided to end our engagement. We will continue to be the best of friends and co-parents and have the greatest respect for one another as we embark upon this new chapter of our lives, individually."
Additionally, a source told the publication that the stress of the ongoing renovations to the pair's $1.8 million mansion, along with raising a new baby, led to their split.
"Thomas and Heather clashed over the design of his Aiken house. They argued over every detail of the renovation. She wanted to make every room a playroom for the kids. She tried to take over the design," an insider revealed.
The source added: "That, along with them being incompatible as a couple, led to the breakup…they’re better off as friends.
"They had broken up before Heather’s pregnancy, then got back together for their son and tried to make things work. They disagree on a lot of issues."
The former Bravo star told a South Carolina judge during their custody war that he plans to move the children out of Charleston and to an estate in Aiken, South Carolina this summer.
The Sun exclusively revealed Thomas purchased the stunning abode for $1,800,000 in May 2020.
HISTORIC MANSION
According to Realtor, the 10,000 sq-ft “historic” home, which is called “The Balcony,” has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and sits on 5.82 acres of land.
Thomas’ children love the home, as he posted a photo of Kensie on her iPad in her room.
He also shared a video of Kensie and Saint running and jumping into the in-ground pool, as they screamed: "Best Daddy!”
MESSY CUSTODY BATTLE
The purchase came after Thomas was temporarily awarded custody of his two children with his ex Kathryn, as she now has supervised visitation every other weekend.
A source claimed to The Sun: “She has supervised visitation during the day Saturday and Sunday every other weekend."
The insider continued Thomas plans to move to Aiken, South Carolina with the children this summer, as he proposed his plan to the judge when requesting full custody.
The Sun confirmed the temporary order was filed by the court on February 25 after a hearing took place on February 9.
THE CHILDREN'S BEST INTEREST
Thomas claimed in court papers obtained by The Sun that he fears for his children's safety when in the care of their mother citing Kathryn’s alleged drug abuse and neglect.
Thomas said he found a private school in Aiken, South Carolina willing to take both students beginning with the 2021-2022 academic school year.
He believes it is in the children’s best interests to move with the minor children to Aiken, South Carolina, as he can maintain a “safe, stable and secure environment” for them.
He explained how he has “never wanted to deprive Kensie and Saint ample time with their mother” and that Kathryn “loves” their children.
He continued: “But I have been terrified for years that they continue to be put in harm’s way every time they are in her care.”
