Gladiators was one of the biggest TV shows in the UK, where contestants took on a string of physical challenges against members of the public, in a bid to be named champion.

The series made household names out of most competitors, including Wolf (Michael Van Wijk), Amazon (Sharron Davies) and Panther (Helen O’Reilly).

But Cobra, one of the show’s biggest stars, revealed that was nothing compared to the antics behind the scenes.

In a candid chat, the 55-year-old – real name Michael Wilson – lifted the lid on wild sex sessions and boozy nights that occurred when the cameras stopped rolling.

‘I used to drink too much during the first three years, we didn’t know whether we would be asked back, so we would party,’ he admitted.

‘We never had to drive anywhere, we had hospitality twice a day… so there would be wine and booze and stuff flowing.’

Despite the flowing alcohol, he also revealed producers would call the stars out on how much they partied, similar to a ‘school report’.

As well as wild nights out, Cobra also confessed things got racy for the stars, recalling their ‘noisy’ bedroom antics.

‘There were loads of [off-screen romances], not so much for me, but… the room next to me was noisy. Every now and again there was a bit of banging on the walls,’ he continued to the Mirror.

‘A lot of them were in relationships, but there were a couple of young single fellas there [who did alright for themselves].’

However, while he had a blast during filming, Michael has had a tough few years since the show ended.

Earlier this year, he was rushed to hospital after suffering from acute pancreatitis and pneumonia, and recently underwent a hip replacement.

But, proving he is still a tough cookie, he added that he ‘recovered really quickly’ and got himself straight back in the gym to keep himself ticking along.
