Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) is facing a Christmas behind bars in Coronation Street as the final act of his comeuppance plays out, leaving him in the frame for killing Vicky Jeffries (Kerri Quinn). But as he protests his innocence, is Vicky even dead? Or is this all one big set up?
Let’s not forget that he has hurt Vicky just as much as his bride who jilted him, Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) – so Vicky would certainly have a reason to land him in hot water. Tonight, he is arrested and he is aghast at the case coming together and the police preparing to charge him with murder.
Michelle hasn’t helped matters one bit – she has told police that he is prone to losing his temper and also filled them in on his past misdemeanours, including his steroid addiction. And Carla (Alison King) also drove the knife in, confirming to investigators that Robert has had problems with his temper in the past.
The last we saw of Vicky was an angry struggle between her and Robert, after which he told Michelle that she wouldn’t be around to ruin their wedding day. And she wasn’t – but is that because he killed her? Or was he walking into a trap?
Whatever happens, the police think they have their man and Michelle doesn’t seem willing to step forward to help the man who destroyed everything that they had with his cheating. With Robert out of the picture, Michelle focuses on selling the bistro and when an anonymous offer is made below the asking price, Carla encourages her to cut all ties and just make the sale.
Michelle wants to start afresh away from Weatherfield but with rumours that she and Robert will be caught in the upcoming gun rampage over Christmas, will there be more tragedy in store?
