ROBBIE Williams has admitted spending £1million on flashy cars in a day – even though he can't drive.

The former Take That star said he splashed out a cool million to compete with his idol Elton John after seeing the Rocket Man's fleet of cars when he was just 18 years old.

Soon after he  huge sum got him a Porsche, a Ferrari, a “Mercedes Russian gangster car” and an Aston Martin.

He went home with a fifth set of wheels that he can't even recall the make of.

The 46-year-old singer revealed to TalkSport host Andy Goldstein: "(Elton's) house was phenomenal and he had four cars in each garage, Ferraris, Aston Martins and so on.

"It was a moment that made an indelible impression."

He added: "I bought five… easily £170,000 each. They all got delivered at the same time.

“I went, ‘What the f*** have I done that for?’ and then I sold them. I didn’t have a licence."

Despite his epic spending spree Robbie wasn't inspired to learn how to drive.

He said: “I never say never, but I am totally not interested."

Meanwhile, Robbie only recently invested in a mobile phone after being without one for 14 years.

He has been doing Instagram Live broadcasts on his handset every day during lockdown and it’s taken such a toll that wife Ayda Field is getting wound up by his new obsession.

Robbie originally got rid of his phone in 2006 and said he hated having one. But he revealed: “I have a phone now, because I didn’t have a phone for a long time.

“Last night my wife said, ‘You’re on your phone too much,’ and she’s right.

“So now I’ve got to get off my phone, even though I’m on it now, and then I’ve got to find out what I’m now going to be addicted to, my new addiction. As long as it’s not pills or booze or powders, I don’t care.

“There has to be something. I put one fire out and another comes up.”
