Rick and Morty (both played by Justin Roiland) have been on ridiculous adventures over the past three seasons, and season four looks to do the exact same. Perhaps one of the most popular adventures they went on was back in season two: Total Rickall.

Viewers will remember Rick and Morty spent the episode in their house, and were plagued by a number of parasites from space.

These parasites, however, transformed into different characters and embedded themselves into their memories.

This technique allowed them to stay far away from harm, as they wouldn’t be attacked if it was thought they were part of the family.

While Rick, Morty, and the rest of their family wiped out the huge amount of parasites throughout the episode, it was later revealed Mr. Poopybutthole (Justin Roiland) was not a parasite.

In fact, after Beth Smith (Sarah Chalke) shot him, the family went into grieving, and the strange creature was sent to hospital for physical therapy.

A theory by YouTube channel The Film Theorists recently suggested, however, that this wacky character is, in fact, a secret Morty.

Season one’s tenth episode revealed there are an infinite number of Ricks and Mortys, with endless personas and looks.

In later episodes, it was revealed they could look and act in almost any way, with the only caveat being they needed to have a Rick by their side.

With this in mind, The Film Theorists pointed a number of strange inclusions in the show, which point towards Mr. Poopybutthole being a secret Morty.

All the hints come from Mr. Poopybutthole’s scrapbook, seen in season three.

In the scrapbook a number of photos are seen of Mr. Poopybutthole throughout his life, including one outside the same high school Morty attends.

There was also included a collection of images of the Smith family, with the caption “family” within it.

On top of this, viewers have noticed Morty and Mr. Poopybutthole have the same mannerisms when talking – with a number of elongated syllables.

Furthermore, in the season one episode Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind, a collection of Ricks can be seen talking to some Mortys, one of which is wearing the same outfit as Mr. Poopybutthole.

While it looks like Mr. Poopybutthole could be returning in season four, will the truth about his heritage finally come out?

Meanwhile, viewers have already begun pointing out hidden details in the latest episodes of the show.

Season four’s first episode saw Morty tell a judge her deceased husband was speaking to her from the dead.

The judge could be seen running off before dismissing Morty’s crimes.

Later in the episode a TV bulletin reads: “Center for Suicide Prevention Calls Judge’s Death Tragic But ‘Judges Shouldn’t Believe in Ghosts’,” teasing she had died by suicide because of what Morty had told her.
