Friendships come and go. But when you are on one of the Real Housewives franchises, your relationships are the only things that can keep you sane.
Unfortunately, Lisa Vanderpump lost all of her friends this season, including her long-time buddy, Kyle Richards, due to #puppygate.
What happened between Vanderpump and Richards?
Vanderpump and Richards had one of the longest running friendships on the show. But all that came crumbling down after rumors began to spread that Dorit Kemsley got a dog from Vanderpump’s Vanderpump Dogs Foundation, only to later drop it off at a shelter.
At first, like any good friend, Richards stayed neutral on the topic. But eventually, she accused Vanderpump of talking about Kemsley to the press.
“Wow, this is a big shock to me. This changes everything,” Vanderpump said on RHOBH when accused. “I’ve done nothing wrong. Just because you accuse me, I am not going to say, ‘Yes I did something’ if I didn’t do it. I’m a woman with integrity who stands up for what’s right. I could have thrown her under the bus. But I’m done. I’m done with you, too.”
What happened when Richards ran into Vanderpump?
Vanderpump and Richards went their separate ways after the fight and that was pretty much the end of their friendship.
On last night’s episode, Richards told the women that she ran into her former friend.
“I also bumped into Lisa Vanderpump at Neiman Marcus,” she said. “So I said, ‘Hi Lisa.’ And she went, ‘Hello,’ like saying hello before you turn. She was like, ‘Hello. Oh, oh!’ Like she was really shocked.”
Richards went on to say that she apologized to the restauranteur for what happened.
“And I said, ‘How are you?’ And I said, ‘I want you to know that I’m very sorry about how everything has turned out and everything that’s happened between us. I really don’t think it needed to be this way at all. And she said, ‘Well, you called me a liar.’”
“And I said, ‘No, I didn’t call you a liar. Those are your words,’” Richards said.
For Richards, the conversation only confirmed that things between them couldn’t go back to how they were before.
“While I have great empathy for what she’s gone through, I do, but it also doesn’t excuse behavior,” she told the women. “And also, this is not behavior because she was going through a hard time — this is stuff that she’s already been doing since I’ve known her.”
Would Vanderpump forgive Richards?
According to Vanderpump, the friendship boat between her and Richards has sailed.
“I think she had that chance,” Vanderpump told HollywoodLife when asked if she would forgive her old friend if she apologized.
“It was the day before my birthday so that would be 10 months ago and I got a text the next day,” she continued. “When people say they’ve reached out — When people reaching out to you to film on camera, that’s not really — ‘Do come meet us for drinks, oh by the way, the cameras are there.’ That’s a different scenario.”
