Erika Jayne‘s Pretty Mess co-author, Brian Moylan admitted he was shocked when news surfaced of Jayne and husband Tom Girardi’s divorce on Election Day. Moylan added about embattled The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member: “I was like, your publicist is worth his money!”
Moylan dished about the divorce, working with Jayne, and the trouble surrounding Jayne’s marriage on the Hot Takes and Deep Dives podcast. He also shared that he “workshops” Jayne’s Housewives tag lines. “I usually help her workshop some things for her tag line,” he said, adding that he had spoken to Jayne recently.
Erika Jayne’s divorce announcement and the timing was shocking, Brian Moylan shared
He joked about the timing of the election and how Jayne perhaps used Election Day hoopla to hide the announcement. Adding, “But like we’re Housewives fans, we probably care more about Erika Jayne’s divorce than we do about the election, though.”
“You know, we do care about both,” he continued. “But I was shocked because I had never met Tom. I’ve never talked to him, but I have seen the two of them interact on the phone and stuff. And I talk to her about him extensively, obviously. And I do know that there is a lot of emotion. You know, they do care for each other a lot. And I think a lot of people kind of cynically are like, oh, she’s just using him for his money or whatever.”
“But I do think that they had a real, true love,” he added. “And so I was surprised because the last times before then I had talked to her, she hadn’t mentioned anything about Tom other than, you know, I had talked to her like at the beginning of the pandemic. And she was like, oh, yeah, Tom’s here is working from home we’re in the house where the crazy like, I don’t know, they were driving each other crazy, but that’s what was happening in my household. So maybe I’m projecting. But yeah. And so I was shocked to hear that. I had no idea that any of that had happened.”
Details surrounding Erika Jayne’s divorce will likely play out on the show
“Like Erika is going through it because, like, we know how guarded Erika is and how controlled she is,” he remarked, especially when it came to the judge assigned to the case allegedly being Girardi’s mistress.
“And for her to just, like, go off on social media I was like, ‘Oh, wow, this is like deep to the bone,’” he said. “I do think she is going through it. The last time I talked to her, I think she, you know, never anticipated her marriage ending in a divorce. I think she had no idea what was going on. And that she was totally thrown for a loop.”
“It’s happening in the middle of filming where she is on the show,” he added. “So I think that she is going through it. I think that the show is really going to be her time for her to tell her story. Because I don’t think that whatever she puts on social media or says or does like is really going to explain it.
“I also don’t think it’s like a moment like I don’t think it’s like a notes apology or like, hey, guys like this is going on. It’s going to be a process. And with all the lawyers involved, I think it’s going to take a long time. So I think that the show will show her kind of going through all these changes. And so I get it. I think she’s just trying to keep it business as usual on Instagram for now. But I think that she’ll probably be addressing stuff on the show as it is happening.”
