Strictly: Giovanni claims Ranvir deserved spot in the final
After weeks of impressing on the dance floor, Giovanni Pernice and Ranvir Singh bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing at the final hurdle. The two, who’ve found themselves at the centre of the romance rumour mill, joined Zoe Ball on BBC Two’s It Takes Two on Monday to discuss their semi-final departure and it didn’t take long for the tears to flow. And in an emotional moment, the Good Morning Britain star planted a supportive kiss on her partner.
After losing the dance-off to Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer on Sunday night, Zoe shared with Ranvir and Giovanni a highlight reel of their time on the show.
From securing their first score of 10 of the series to the rigorous training process, the Strictly pair relived their journey on the BBC Two show.
And after seeing their time together play out on-screen, both Ranvir and Giovanni became tearful.
Zoe chimed in as applause filled the room: “Honestly my darlings, it’s so moving.

“Ranvir, listen, listen. So much love for you in this room.”
“Gutted, gutted. Absolutely gutted,” an emotional Giovanni began to say – prompting his partner to give a supportive kiss on his cheek.
Zoe then brought up Giovanni’s kind words after their exit on Sunday evening, asking: “Giovanni, you said a really beautiful thing on the show.
“You were saying that you hoped Ranvir would keep that confidence that she has gained from this experience. That was such a lovely thing to say, you have really seen her change, haven’t you?”

A choked-up Giovanni replied: “I mean every single thing I said because you really became better.
“You really believe in yourself and you feel a different person and as a teacher, it is everything that you can ask for.”
He continued: “Yes, this show is a dance competition but it’s not all about that.
“It’s much more than that and that’s why I feel like we deserve much more a place in the final.”

Zoe then turned her attention to Ranvir and asked what had surprised her most about her time on the show.
“Umm, probably that it was more than just the dancing,” Ranvir echoed.
“I didn’t expect that. I thought it was just, you come in and you learn a few routines then you leave. Like, I didn’t know that learning to dance with someone like him would expose so much of me as a person.
“And not just on the telly. In the training room, it exposed so much and in a private way, there’s so much that emerged out of me just from years of build-up that you sort of buried away.

“I don’t know why dancing does that, but (it was) in a positive way.”
With no dry eyes left in the studio, Zoe congratulated the two for making it all the way to the semi-final.
As they said goodbye to viewers, a tearful Giovanni and Ranvir shared a hug as Zoe moved on with the show.
