Starz hit gangster drama Power returned for its final series back in August. Week by week, the show has seen major characters taking a hit as the bodies pile up. Season six will be split in two with the first 10 episodes airing in 2019 and the remaining five instalments broadcast in 2020.
When will Power season 6, episode 9 be released?
Fans of Power are going to face an agonising wait ahead after Starz confirmed the next episode would be airing in two weeks.
A post appeared on the show’s official Twitter account which read: “Get in on all the Season 6 hype. Catch up on Season 6 before an all-new #PowerTV returns October 27 on the @STARZ App.”
Along with the tweet, there was a short promo for Scorched Earth which hinted more lives could be on the line in the next instalment.
Underneath the post, some fans expressed their disappointment with one user called KMY posting: “No new episode on Sunday ?? Better make the next episode two hours.”
The Power account replied to the fans, promising: “It will be worth the wait.”
Another user called @Meje1_ also said: “No new episode on 20th?”
Again, the Power account responded: “No. Make sure you catch up on all of season 6 before 10/27. We are bringing another episode.”
But a third disgruntled fan called @autoassign said: “Boy everyone caught up ain’t no one missing an episode, why you makin us wait [sic].”
This means Power season six, episode nine won’t be airing on Starz in America until Sunday, October 27.
British fans are likely to be equally perplexed with the forthcoming instalment called Scorched Earth not dropping on Netflix UK until Monday, October 28.
While it’s unclear why Power has taken a break for a week, it could be to do with the way US shows air their programmes.
In America, shows tend to take short week-long hiatuses midway through a run and it’s common for programmes to take breaks especially if there are many episodes in the run.
According to ScreenerTV: “If there were no hiatuses, your season would begin in late September and end at the end of January, and then you’d have to wait eight months to discover how that cliffhanger turns out.”
So it seems, this explanation means there will be shorter wait for fans between the midseason finale and when the series returns the following year.
Starz has released a short synopsis for the episode which reads: “As Ghost (played by Joseph Sikora) and Tommy (Omari Hardwick) move forward with their plan to kill Jason Micic (Mike Duped), Tommy enacts a plan of his own.
“Dre (Olurotimi Akinosho) uses a cleverly devised ruse to force Tommy’s organization to rebel against him.
“Tommy gets his comeuppance when he is faced with battling for his life against the kin of one of his past victims.”
There are two more episodes left of Power season six this year for fans to enjoy as the show comes back in the New Year to wrap up the epic New York mafia series once and for all.
Power season 6 will return to Netflix UK on Monday, October 28 from 8am
