Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden joined Good Morning Britain from his home earlier today and was grilled by Piers Morgan on whether the UK government was sufficiently prepared for the coronavirus outbreak. A total of 217 virus-linked deaths have been recorded in care homes in England but there are fears that the number is substantially higher.
This figure is less than half the figure provided by two of the UK’s largest care home providers which have reported 442 coronavirus related deaths between them.

“I find it utterly disgraceful that you just want to say a couple hundred,” Morgan quipped. “These people are real people with real lives.”
