Penny Lancaster has revealed she sometimes dresses up as ‘Lady Christmas’ while she’s wrapping to help lift Sir Rod Stewart’s festive spirit.

The Loose Women panellist admitted the Maggie May legend isn’t the biggest fan of Christmas, so she does everything she can to help get him in the mood before the big day – which apparently includes a Mrs. Claus costume.

Appearing on Monday’s episode of the ITV daytime show, she said: ‘Sometimes I dress up for [wrapping] too! Once again, Rod doesn’t love Christmas and he can’t really wait till the decorations are down, he’s got his house back to normal.

‘So that’s why we have lots of parties and family gatherings, a carol service – just to kind of get the spirit going.

‘And just to lift his mood, I put a little Father-y, Lady Christmas outfit on – like I wore on Loose Women once! Lady Christmas, yeah! Puts a big smile on his face!’

Her co-stars were howling as she opened up on the show, while she also revealed how she and Sir Rod ended up taking part in the Do Ya Think I’m Sexy TikTok dance challenge.

‘A couple of months ago, Rod was doing a private show in Hungary, and we were at a restaurant just having lunch, and the people in the restaurant – the waiters, manager – decided to put one of Rod’s songs on,’ she recalled.

‘So I said, “Darling, get up and join in”. The chef came out, and it was a real laugh, it looks like a wedding party doesn’t it?

‘I guess the public did a spin-off and started doing this Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? TikTok things, and it was forwarded to us so we thought, OK we’ll join in – and now you’ve shown us how to do it!’

Meanwhile, earlier this month Sir Rod – who has received three Covid-19 jabs – revealed only people who have had both vaccines and a booster will be allowed at his Christmas party.

It turns out even those who are fully vaccinated with three jabs will need to test negative for the virus.

‘We have a big party at the house every year’, he told Times Radio Drive host John Pienaa. ‘We have a marquee and a band. We’re just going to make sure everybody has been tested.

‘It’s dead simple. If you haven’t been tested, if you haven’t got the two vaccines and the booster, you can’t come.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
