PAUL Hollywood was angry with his girlfriend’s mum for “stirring-up trouble” with her public comments on the M&S bust-up between her and his estranged wife.

Summer Monteys-Fullam’s mum Sabina, 48, posted video footage on Instagram of her reading out a lengthy written statement defending her daughter in the wake of the shop car park row which led to police being called.

But Great British Bake-Off presenter Paul, 52, felt his lover’s family should have stayed silent over the clash.

He has whisked away Summer, 23, on a holiday to Japan to get over the fall-out from the bust-up.

In her Instagram speech Sabina suggested a provocative one finger ‘salute’ photo published on social media by Summer and her older sister Saskia had been posted BEFORE the incident – but it actually went up four hours after it.

Last night a source said: “This whole episode has been a mess from start to finish, and Paul is pretty livid with how it’s been played out.

“Both Paul and Alex want to move on but feel Summer’s family hasn’t helped matters. Sabina altered the timeline of events to paint Alex in an even worse light, and Paul thinks this was unnecessary and simply stirring up trouble even more.

“Sabina’s video obviously got a lot of attention. Paul was angry and said she shouldn’t have done it.

“Paul adores Summer and her family so it will be all patched up. He’s now in Japan on a work trip and has taken Summer with him – they both hope that when they return, everything will go back to normal.

“As for Alex, she just wants to move on with her life, and forget this whole sorry incident.”

The video came after Summer and Alex, Paul’s wife of 19 years, came face-to-face in a Marks and Spencer store in Canterbury, Kent, on February 12.

She captioned the video “The truth is finally out”, and said Alex, 54, needed to “move on”.

Sabina said on it: “I have a lot of sympathy for Alex and her family and the divorce being played out in public and I am especially sympathetic and empathetic as we too have had our lives played out and put in the spotlight, which I would not wish on anyone. So the last thing I’d want to do is make a situation worse for either family.

“However our voice has never been heard. We have maintained a silence which may have been misconstrued as weakness, but was simply, we felt, the best approach.

“It is over a year after the breakup, they were separated for a long time and we are sad that she is still so very angry about the situation and we really hope she can find it within herself to move on to a peace and happiness in her future as quickly as possible.”

Kent Police said they were called to a ‘report of a disturbance’. A spokesman said: “Enquiries were carried out in which all parties involved were given words of advice.”

Paul and Alex split in November 2017. She is currently divorcing him for adultery.
