MOLLY-Mae Hague has defended herself against trolls attacking her for posting about her lavish Maldives holiday while millions are plunged into a Tier 4 lockdown.

As the 21-year-old enjoyed dinner in an under water restaurant with her hunky boyfriend Tommy Fury, Molly revealed she's been inundated with messages from angry followers.

The Love Island star travelled to the luxurious island after a trip to Dubai with her best friend Maura Higgins and her boyfriend Chris Taylor.

Molly has come under fire from fans who criticised her choice to travel amid a pandemic.

Writing on Instagram, the influencer said: "In response to the messages I'm already getting about us being away throughout this time…

"Please understand that Tommy and I left the UK from Cheshire which was in Tier 2 at the time.

"We didn't break any rules coming away.

"If we knew these rules were going to be put in place then obviously we would have never left the UK.

"The minute we arrive home we will be following government guidelines."

One of Molly's follower told her: "I really like you and the person you are but everybody else is staying home struggling to keep our sanity and make ends meet.

"Not being able to see family and respecting their is a worldwide pandemic going on while you travel the world. Thanks for doing your part."

Another said: "I'm sorry but I find this offensive given we're in a global pandemic.

"You have broken the tier 2 guidelines which clearly say 'people should carefully consider whether they must travel abroad'.

"You are on holiday and you did not need to travel abroad other than for selfish needs."

The Government website, it states those living in Tier 2 – like Molly and Tommy before travelling abroad – should "stay local and avoid travelling outside of your local area, meaning your village or town, or part of a city, where possible".

It adds: "People should continue to travel for reasons such as work, education, getting medical attention or fulfilling caring responsibilities."

Tommy told fans: "So unbelievably sad to hear about the tier 4 lockdwon rules being put in place for Christmas… what a way to end the year.

"I'm thinking of everyone at home right now, I know how hard Christmas can be for people without being apart from the people they love…

"Let's all pray for a better 2021."
