Ever since the hit limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came to its conclusion on April 23, Marvel fans have been hungry for some new content. The anticipation for Loki, Marvel’s next show slated for release, has been high, as many viewers are excited to see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the title character.
In the weeks leading up to Loki’s premiere, diehard fans have been doing whatever they can to dig up any details they can about the show’s plot. And even though Marvel’s cast and crew have been tight-lipped, as usual, about most parts of the show, there have been more conversations about Loki as of late.
Hiddleston recently shared his thoughts on Loki, discussing his character’s complex identity, and how it relates to the show. One of Marvel’s highest-ranking executives also recently admitted that Loki has the possibility of running for multiple seasons due to its unique setting.
Tom Hiddleston says ‘Loki’ logo fits the show’s overall theme
Hiddleston talked about Loki during a recent interview with Empire, noting that the show’s font relates to his character’s persona.
“I want to preserve the freshness of the show for when it emerges, but something to think about is the [show’s] logo, which seems to refresh and restore,” he said. “The font of how Loki is spelled out seems to keep changing shape. Loki is the quintessential shapeshifter. His mercurial nature is that you don’t know whether, across the MCU, he’s a hero or a villain or an anti-hero. You don’t know whether you can trust him. He literally and physically changes shape into an Asgardian guard, or into Captain America repeatedly. Thor talks about how he could change into a snake.”
In the same interview, Hiddleston adds that the Loki logo may provide Marvel fans with some ideas about the direction of the show.
“I think that shapeshifting logo might give you an idea that ‘Loki,’ the show, is about identity, and about integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that he can be, and perhaps the many selves that we are.”
‘Loki’ may have multiple seasons
When Wandavision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired earlier this year, many fans wondered if either show would have a second season. Naturally, fans are also wondering if Loki will air for multiple seasons.
In a separate interview with IndieWire, Nate Moore, Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development, hinted that the show could potentially run for several seasons due to it being set in an alternate timeline.
“The one [show] comes to mind — and that probably isn’t a secret — I think there’s a lot of storytelling in ‘Loki’ that’s really irreverent and clever and cool, but also lends itself to multiple seasons in a way where it’s not a one-off,” Moore said. “Tom Hiddleston, I think, is doing some of his best work on that show. It really is kind of amazing. I think of all the great stuff he’s done, but this show is going to show such different sides and really the true scope of his range. I think that show is going to surprise a lot of people.
