Maura Higgins, 28, claimed Love Island bosses tried to get her to appear on last year's series despite her being in a relationship.
The Irish beauty, who is currently dating Curtis Pritchard, 23, said she was in a six-month relationship when producers contacted her and tried to persuade her to dump her beau so she could sign up to the dating show.
Recalling the incident, she revealed her boyfriend was "furious", but producers were still forthcoming and told the star "well you don’t really know that that’s going to last".
Maura coupled with the professional dancer and the pair made it to the final – clinching fourth place.
Speaking at Girls With Goals on Her.ie, Maura said: "I remember last year when they called me up and I was with my ex – we had been together about six months and I said, 'no I’m in a relationship.'
"They were like, 'how long have you been with that guy,' and I said, 'six months,' and they were like, 'well you don’t really know that that’s going to last,' and they said to me, ‘if anything happens closer to the show, let us know and we’ll get you in there.'
"My boyfriend wasn’t very happy," she added.

Maura and Curtis are one of the last remaining couples to still be together following the show's finale in July.
Despite the relationship going from strength-to-strength, the natural beauty confessed they are yet to become official and put a label on things.
Discussing their blossoming romance, Maura admitted they haven't seen each other in two weeks, but put their time apart down to their "hectic schedule".
"He's not [my boyfriend]. So we haven't seen each other in two weeks but that's because of our hectic schedules, but I mean, I'm happy with the pace we're going and I think he is as well," she added.
"Obviously it's very different after coming out of the villa where you were with each other 24/7, but coming out, it's a whole new relationship."
With Maura set to take part in Dancing On Ice, no doubt Curtis will be cheering her on rink-side.
